Abstract
This study describes the study of pragmatics, especially illocutionary speech acts along with their classification, consisting of representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declaration which were found in Mata Najwa Interview “Exclusive Interview with Chris Martin of Coldplay” On the YouTube of Najwa Shihab. This research aims to find out illocutionary speech acts and five classifications contained in the interview between Najwa Shihab and Chris Martin of Coldplay. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The researcher obtained the data from the Najwa Shihab YouTube channel interview video, transcribed the video using anthiago website, note-taking the utterances and classify the illocutionary speech acts. The researcher using speech act theory by (Yule, 1996) and the classification of illocutionary speech acts by (Searle, 1979). The results of this research are contained illocutionary speech acts in 54 utterances, then classification of illocutionary speech act there are declaration act (2 utterances), representative act (19 utterances), expressive act (25 utterances), directive act (4 utterances), and commissive acts (4 utterances) in Mata Najwa's interview “Exclusive Interview with Chris Martin of Coldplay” On YouTube Najwa Shihab. With this result the researcher concludes that in video interview between Najwa Shihab and Chris Martin it contains illocutionary speech acts and each classification from both the interviewer and the guest. The researcher hopes that this research can provide the reader can understand the meaning of the speech spoken by the interlocutor in a conversation.
