Abstract
This research focuses on form, function and reason of Code Switching and Code Mixing used in Vlog of Guruku MR D. This research is aimed to identify the forms, examine the functions and examine the reasons that Guruku MR D used in his Vlog. To analyze this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method and the writer used four theories to analyze the data, there are Poplack’s Theory (1994), Fasold’s Theory (1989), Marasigan’s Theory (1983), and Hoffman’s Theory (1991). The data used in this analysis is collected from four video Guruku MR D on YouTube. The writer found 35 unit data of analysis of Code Switching found that 16 data used Inter Sentential switching and 19 data used Intra Sentential switching. Furthermore, the total data of Code Mixing was 151 unit of analysis which found 72 The Inserting of Words, 1 The Inserting of Hybrid, 18 The Inserting of Idiom and 60 The Inserting of Clause. The result of the functions performed Code Switching were 4 addressee specifications, 8 repetitions, and 3 interjections. Moreover, the result of the functions performed through Code Mixing were 1 repetition, 5 interjections and 142 facility of expressions. This research also found that there are 5 reasons of using Code Switching. Those are 2 data talking about particular topics, 3 data interjections (Inserting sentence fillers or sentence connectors), 6 data repetition used for clarifications, 16 intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutors, and 4 to soften or strengthen request or command. While the researcher found that there are 3 reasons of using Code Mixing. Those are 5 data interjections (Inserting sentence fillers or sentence connectors), 9 data repetition used for clarifications and 141 because of real lexical need.
