Abstract
Me Before You is a romance novel written by Jojo Moyes. The aims of this study are: (1) To find out the reasons that William Traynor chose to end his life in the novel "Me Before You" and (2) To find out William's id, ego, and superego based on Freud's psychological theory. The theory used in this research is Freud's theory, and the research method is descriptive analysis. First, the writer reads the novel to understand it. Then, The writer analyzes the main character of the novel named Will Traynor, who experiences anxiety and depression after having a motorcycle accident. The character feels his life is useless and burdens the people around him. Therefore, it can be concluded that anxiety and depression have made the main character have suicidal thoughts, and the id, ego, and superego have played an important role in his personality.
