Abstract

In this research the researcher analyzed about language attitude and language choice of kindergarten students in Rainbow Star: A Sociolinguistics Study. The researcher interest to analyze about the phenomenon of kindergarten student language attitude and student language choice. The researcher tried to find out the phenomenon of language attitude and language choice that students choose of kindergarten students in Rainbow Star. This research was a linguistic study and focus on sociolinguistic particularly in language attitude, and language choice. The analysis theory will be used from Ajzen, 1988 and Baker, 1992 theory about the components of language attitude. For Language choice, the researcher used theory that had been used to analyze the data comes Holmes (2013:22) about the language choice in the domain. To process the data, the researcher used descriptive qualitative. The data was taken from questionnaire that parents fill in and the researcher observed while joining zoom class. Result of the research found the positive phenomenon for language attitude toward English and Bahasa Indonesia, negative phenomenon of language attitude towards Mandarin, and student language choice towards three different language they got. From this research, the researcher also found three main point that shows student language choice which is language usage function, student interlocutor and domain where language choice occur.
