Abstract
This thesis is analyzing a novel "Sold" written by Patricia McCormick through child exploitation. The goal of this study is to identify and categorize the types of human trafficking depicted in the novel. by using qualitative approach. Through this research, the community is expected to know the types of human trafficking and can avoid becoming a victim of human trafficking. This thesis describe child exploitation experienced by main character and describe the forms and impact of those child exploitation. After doing the research, by having 28 evidences from the novel and using Sociology theories. The result of this research shows that there are many types of human trafficking, reflected through the plot and characters of the novel, Debt Bondage Among Migrant Laborers, Forced Labor, Forced Child Labor, Sex Trafficking, Child Sex Trafficking. This thesis has analyzed child exploitation through sociological approach reflected in the novel "Sold" written by Patricia McCormick. By employing the sociology theories to obtain the relevant information in order to understand the problem in this novel and answering the research question, the writer found the sociological value depicted in the novel. The subject matter of male superiority was presented immensely throughout this novel. In many places, especially third world countries, human trafficking and sex slavery are some of the most common issues. Based on the research it could be found that there are two types the impact of child exploitation there are sexual exploitation : prostitution, brothels, and child sex tourism. And physical exploitation : Domestic work, slavery and forced labour
