Abstract

Compounds are words formed by combining roots, and the much smaller category of phrasal words, that is items that have the internal structure of phrases but function syntactically as words. This research focuses on the process of compound words used in the financial terms in the Inside Job Movie (2010). The data are the dialog inside the movie title Inside Job (2010). The research question are what are the list of classes, types and written ways of compound words that occur in the Inside Job Movie based on financial terms, and how are the process of classes, types, written ways, and meaning of compound words that occur in the Inside Job Movie based on financial terms. This is qualitative descriptive research and for the purpose is to find out in describing classes, types and written ways of compound words also the meaning of compound word based on financial terms. The writer used McCarthy (2002), and Akmajian, et al. (2001) as his reference to analyse the process and to examine classes, and types, compound words, the written ways of compound words, and the writer also search the meaning of the financial compound words that occur in the entire research. There are 37 compound words morphologically analysed based on financial terms in the Inside Job Movie. From the data chosen of 37 compound words in the analysis, the research findings show for the class of compound words that there are 32 noun compound words, 3 adjective compound words, and 2 verb compound words. From the types of compound words there are 30 endocentric compound words and 7 exocentric compound words. The writer also discovered the written ways of compound words, 24 open form compound words, 6 closed form compound words, and 7 hyphenated compound words in the Inside Job (2010) Movies.
